Who are you?
Play as a mutant native amid the saline sand dunes and woods of Jerusalem, or in Ibula’s Ice-Covered Arcology, Mortars of the Yawning Moon, or the poisoned arboretum of the Holy City of Ecumekiye, a pure branch of the few remaining eco-domes.
At the furthest point of Mogra in the Great Salt Desert, you will enter the village-oasis of Joppa. Farmers who live in humid environments are more likely to develop viridian water gardens. Salt marsh houses and rock salt are both present. On the horizon, arches have rusted to the ground and chrome towers are sinking in Jerusalem’s woodlands. Additionally, the fabled Spindle breaks through the clouds and rises above the place of contact.
You can use a gun, a vibroblade, a rag scroll, a poisoned needle, or a goat under hypnosis. The Watervine farmer welcomes you by raising his straw hat and saying, “Alive and inner friend.”

What can you do?
Anything and everything. Caves of Qud is a deeply simulated, biologically diverse, richly cultured world.
- Don’t you like the wall blocking you? Dig everything. Pick it up with a pickax, consume it with a gas mutation that is acidic, or melt it like lava. Every wall does really have a melting point.
- Discover History – There is history everywhere you look, from in-game history books written by plant historians to legendary lore objects.
- Choose your character from over 70 mutations and defects as well as 24 castes and sets. You can choose from characters with wings, two heads, feathers, four arms, flaming hands, or you can use the power of cloning to create any figure you choose.
- Die; The Caverns of Fury are lethal and nasty. You may always choose a different persona, so don’t worry.
Attempt to be a member of more than 60 organisations, such as those for monkeys, crabs, robots, and extremely entropic creatures, among others. - Follow Baratrum the Old’s plan, a diligent cave bear who is in charge of a group of mechanics attempting to restore Kudu to its former technological glories.
- Explore regions that were generated procedurally and contain well-known landmarks; each planet has a map size of roughly 1 million.
- Smash the enemies’ limbs—every monster and NPC has been meticulously recreated to match the player. They have levels, talents, gear, factions, and body parts, so to speak. So, for instance, if you have a mutation that enables you to control a spider psychologically, you can cruise the globe like a spider, lay webs, and consume prey.
